| If someone is siphoning my gas every Sunday night... |
|
and that same someone:
steals a few bucks from my checking account every Monday clearcuts my bushes and trees every Tuesday slanders me to my boss every Wednesday pours motor oil on my driveway and lawn every Thursday extorts "protection money" from me every Friday tells me i live in the best neighborhood EVER every Saturday...
If I want him to stop, must I give him an itemized list of my demands or is a simple "STOP IT!!!" sufficient notice?

In very LARGE groups. Did I mention over and over and over?

| 15. I don't think so, dixie |
|
I've thought a lot about that over the past 35 years... I think the Vietnam war ended because Nixon and Kissinger decided that "detente" was a more viable foreign policy strategy than "containment." Consider that the troops did not pull out until years after the protests peaked and the kids were murdered at Kent State and Jackson State. I would love to think that the protests made a difference -- and I think they did, insofar as they destroyed LBJ's career and put Nixon in the White House -- but I don't think they influenced policy one little bit.
And... not to make the irony any more pointed, but if "NO more war" seems to have "worked"... well, obviously the message didn't sink in very far.

| 8. So your position is I should make up a list of demands. If I accidentally forget... |
|
some particular item, is he justified if he continues that particular action?

| 9. Well, he does the same things to ALL the neighbors. But one of the neighbors... |
|
is the guy he buys the motor oil from, rents the bulldozer from, pays for "muscle" while extorting, etc. I don't think I'll ever get THAT guy on my side.
Some of the other neighbors just want to "go along to get along". They are out cleaning the oil from their driveways at the same time I am, but they are afraid of making things worse.
The others are already behind me, they just aren't sure how to proceed against this powerful man. But they all have the same complaints.

He does the same thing to just a few other neighbors and you take their fear and support and apply it to the entire neighborhood.
Most of the neighbors hold stock in the neighborhood and don't want it torn down just to satisfy the few who don't.

thief, but upon the eloquence of the victim's pleas for support?

You too can profit from his destruction. Maybe even enough to retire somewhere that still has trees.
