| 3. Well, it didn't until Steve Jobs died...that pretty much pushed everything aside... |
|
Including the Quitter's announcement.

| 4. He should've made lifestyle accessories for smug bourgeoisie. |
|
Then he'd be hailed as an innovative genius and praised to the heavens. Doing something that actually DOES change people's lives for the better, and involves great personal sacrifice and conviction? Not so important as shiny toys, apparently.

| 8. If you see Steve Jobs' contributions to the world as "shiny toys" |
|
and "lifestyle accessories for smug bourgeoisie," we need to sit down and have a little talk, I think. :)

Who is being smug? You are soooooooo much better than everyone else. If you can't afford a car, do you also piss on Carl Benz or Henry Ford? Do you turn on the lights to piss on Thomas Edison? I bow down to your self-important enlightenment.
Shuttlesworth was indeed an inspirational figure, but he went "unnoticed" for decades. It doesn't diminish his role in the civil rights movement. Why does it have to be a zero-sum game? To deny Jobs' accomplishments just because Shuttlesworth isn't as famous is just plain silly.

| 6. NPR did a long segment on Mr. Shuttlesworth this morning, with |
|
excerpts from his speeches and interview quotes.
It was an admiring tribute to the man and his work, and if other news organizations didn't to the same, then shame on them, yes.
I don't have a TV so have no idea what any of the major networks did.
