Why not the "People Party"
Saw a post where it was suggested that the Wall St protesters should come up with a name. Doesn't need to be sophomoric and contrived like "Tea Party"...we already had one of those in this country, and those original Tea Partiers would dive into Boston Harbor and reload the tea on the Brittish ships if they knew these corporate backed asshats had highjacked their name.

I have no right to suggest anything, because I am not out there protesting...I'm at work, but I'm off this weekend if anyone knows of a Virginia Beach event, but I am offering that the simple and true name "People Party" might be a good name.

Or how about "the Ninety-niners"?

2. I like the People's Party, but that would never survive the media freakout about Stalinism or some
crap like that.

I was reading al the personal stories last night on http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/ and it was so very heartbreaking.
So many people going through so much, it's no wonder our economy is in the toilet.
I've been asking for months if it ws time for the pitchforks and torches and these brave young people out there standing up for the rest of us should be commended with all our voices.

7. Or simply the "Us" party. That gets the word people our of the name which
as another poster said would freak out the media. I agree, in fact I was thinking similar ... a name would give a lot of focus.

14. at which we need to quit running away from - just because *they* say communist
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 04:31 PM by Hestia
we respond with we are the 99%. We need to quit walking away from meaningful dialog. Once we, one to one, start really explaining what it all means, we will continue to be bullied. Once we quit the social media and start socializing with others, we'll always be dejected.

Bring on the communist talk! Our keyboards work too :)

15. Good One!
I also like The "Beer Party". Then the protesters can invoke Ben Franklin saying; "Beer is proof that God loves and cares about us".

Mmmmmmm Beer!
