In his case, I hope he learned his lesson.

Gun safety is very important. When I was in high school, I got too relaxed one day with a shotgun and almost took out my right foot. I was just an inch from the mass of pellets. Luckily I took the hint and got serious about safety around guns again.

I also decided that I would be better with swords and axes for my home protection.
