3. The 53% guy is Eric Erickson.

Prince Asshole of the Universe. I don't know what his "third job" is but 2 of his "jobs" are blogger and commentator for CNN. Yeah tough gigs. He'd last about 5 minutes on my gig before someone beat him down for being such a fucking whiner.

I see another 53%er at the link, I guess it's a movement now. LOL. Great response though. You gotta wonder why these people think it's ok to have to work 2 and 3 jobs to support their families.

5. The Kos reply goes astray in taking this guy at face value

It takes the 53-percenter's statement as a boast and replies, "We can't all be as rugged and dedicated as you, so you should be more understanding."

But I read it very differently. I see it as a cry for help from somebody whose face is twisted in pain.

I see it as somebody saying, "My life sucks, I've been exploited and abused by the lousy system we live under, but the one thing I can't let myself do is think for a moment that it was all unnecessary."

You saw a lot of that sort of thing in the 1960s -- people who would frankly explain that they didn't dare smoke pot or drop acid because it would make them realize how miserable and cramped their existence was.

And though nobody today is telling these guys to turn on, tune in, and drop out, the OWS movement is challenging them to look unflinchingly at what has been done to them. And that is something they can't handle.
