So, the poll you linked to indicates that the OVERWHELMING majority think that abortion should be legal as it currently exists.

There's lots of women who's opinion comes down to "I will never have and abortion. But I have no right to stop anyone else".

So if you phrase your poll question in the right way, you can trigger the first part. And if you ask it in another way, you can trigger the second.

superhuman efforts are being made to marginalize and disqualify people who "shouldn't be voting", and since abortion/birth control issues are most of interest to young women, probably a LOT of those women have never known a time when they did not have the rights they have (even though they are being dissipated).

Many young people are notoriously "distracted" by life, and many do not vote, or fail to register in time, or vote the way their parents tell them to vote. In many college towns there will be a lot of shocked young people who find out the have to vote absentee in their parents' state...and most will probably find out too late, or will fill lit out in such a way that it's tossed in the trash.

I remember canvassing in 2004 and talking to a woman who was concerned about 'changing horses in the middle of the stream' (or some similar lame shit) but did mention she was pro-choice. I tried to explain the Supreme Court factor to it but she just didn't seem to get it. This was the kind of person who believed the swift liars b.s. about Kerry but didn't bother to think through who was actually going to do what as President and how that might affect the issues she cares about.
