First lady's state dinner dress by Doo-Ri Chung

The first lady chose a one-shoulder purple gown with a blue and green beaded belt by Korean-American fashion designer Doo-Ri Chung for the state dinner honoring President of South Korea Lee Myung-bak, according to a White House aide. She paired the dress with a large gold cuff bracelet and gold earrings.

Following the state dinner honoring Chinese President Hu Jintao, Michelle Obama was criticized by some for choosing late British designer Alexander McQueen and not wearing a dress by an American designer. At the last state dinner honoring German Chancellor Angela Merkel, she wore a cream dress by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan.
