| I am getting SOOO tired of seeing the right's spin on an issue become |
|
what most people in polls belive..
example) The 2009 stimulus was a failure. soo many polls show people believing what is plainly not true..
In the last 2 months of 2008 and 1st 2 months of 2009 the economy was losing jobs at the rate of 500,000 to 700,000 a month.. AFTER the stimulus package went into effect jobs losses became 0 and for many months after-wards growth of up to 200,000 happened. The republicans saw this and KNEW that if a 2nd stimulus happened job growth would start to hit near or above 500,000 a month and unemployment would drop below 7%.. THAT would mean Obama would waltz into a 2nd term.. So they put a stop to any hope of s 2nd stimulus by spreading the lie that the 1st one failed because job growth was soo weak.. Never mind that we reversed the horrendous job losses a short time ago.. and because democrats did not fight the lies and taking to the air and loudly pointing out the lies the rights spin became common held belief.. When or when will we learn how to fight these guys???

| 1. Just thinking out loud, here, but |
|
the school system probably has a lot to do with that.
For twelve years (at least) you get rewarded for spitting back exactly what you heard the teacher say OR you get punished for saying anything else.
I think it becomes second nature to just repeat the phrases and answers you've been hearing around you.
Therefore, they -- we all know who THEY are -- saturate the media with the same message, IN THE SAME WORDS, until everyone just starts repeating it.
Sad that it works, but it does.

| 2. This happens because much of the MSM is a tool |
|
of the right, not enough people listen to Amy Goodman, read the more informative parts of the internet, and probably most importantly Obama and other Democrats are simply not out there saying over and over again that it was a success.
Unfortunately, Obama has surrounded himself with economic advisers who totally buy into the right-wing ideology.

| 3. So much of this is due to the mainstream(corporate) media control |

They really have a huge impact on what people think about things.

| 4. The 2009 stimulus WAS a failure - but not in the way the right says it was. |
|
It was too small, inadequate to the task, and included far too many tax cuts to succeed. If the amount that was tax cuts had been instead targeted on job creation, we would not have seen 9%+ unemployment, and would not be in the shape we are now. Its very weakness, as you pointed out, prevented a second stimulus - a second stimulus which would probably not have been necessary if the first had been properly formulated.
It was a failure not because a stimulus will not work, but because an inadequate stimulus will work inadequately. This calls for MORE stimulus, not no stimulus.
When will we learn how to fight these guys? It helps to fight BEFORE losing the battle.

| 5. The stimulus Obama got thru the congress.. |
|
was the most that he could have gotten thru.. IF he had tried for significantly more.. or had less tax cuts in them it would not have passed!!

| 7. Many economists warned Obama and Congressional Dems that this would happen. |
|
The President was advised that his stimulus was far too weak to be very effective and that in the end it would be politicized in precisely this way.
