Cantor Cancels Speech on Inequality Because Too Many Unequal People Would Be in Attendance

Prodded by the Occupy Wall Street protests, Eric Cantor announced that he would deliver a speech on inequality at the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia arm of the OWS protests, Occupy Philadelphia, planned to march to the site. Then Cantor learned that the first 300 members of the public to show up for the speech would be allowed inside. That was too much for Cantor to bear.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va. canceled a lecture on the growing gap between rich and poor at the University of Pennsylvania today as demonstrators gathered to protest his appearance.

Organizers said the protest, including marchers from the Occupy Philadelphia encampment at City Hall, would go ahead as planned. “We want make sure Rep. Cantor knows he can run, but he can’t hide,” said Mike Morrill, executive director of Keystone Progress, a protest organizer.

Cantor’s spokesman cited a problem with the “attendance policy.” The problem was that Cantor’s people wouldn’t be able to hand-pick the audience (they call it a “selected audience”). The school opened the speech to the public, and Cantor couldn’t have that.

The talk big, but when it comes down to the line, they are scared little babies who have to be "protected" with a hand picked audience so the don't have to "answer" any "real" questions.

Now from what I hear Cantor is in a safe district, and as long as he don't piss off the tea party and they put someone up against him in the primary, he will keep his job. I just hope someone take this asshole on and even if they don't win, they show him for the little coward he really is.
