KIMA has learned a broken water pipe is causing a big mess and expensive repairs at Selah Junior High. The school has had running water for only parts of the building for the last four days, but school administrators say toilets and sinks are running. The district says these problems are to be expected for a school built in the 1950's.
"This is not the first time,” said Chris Scarcco the district’s assistant superintendent. “It continues to be an ongoing issue at the junior high school. It's just more money that we are funneling in to this old outdated school."
The total repair cost has yet to be determined, but definitely expected to be in the thousands. The school is trying to save money by renting equipment and having school employees do the work themselves.
