technically, to be grammatically correct, the "you", in both instances, should be "your".

By convention, of course, virtually no one ever uses "your" in this type of phrase, so I'm all for the way it's written.

I love that sign. Brings me to ask people who have been following this more closely than I have-is the first concrete demand of Occupy to get private money out of political campaigns? Because that would be a big step in right direction. Probably require a constitutional amendment to nail it down airtight, though, else the weasels will alter it before the ink is dry.

I don't blame individual actors who grow up in this system and do what they are told - to a point. As an adult wouldn't you notice all those around you who have so little? Wouldn't you become aware of the slave labor, both here and overseas? Even if you are comfortable, wouldn't you put yourself in other folks' shoes and want to change things to make them at least a little more equitable?

We have enough resources on this earth to feed and clothe all - they are just concentrated in the hands of the few. This is why the system has to change, and why this sign is a cop-out.

system - saying "it's ok" if you're rich (therefore saying Capitalism is ok). It very much is not - it is a system that is by definition exclusionary and inequitable.

That is the myth we are taught in schools here. Has it really been that wonderful? We had a good 20-30 years after WWII when Eisenhower raised taxes substantially. Other than that period, has it really been so great? Has it been great for women, who earn about 60 cents to every man's dollar? Has it been wonderful for minorities? Has it been great for 90% of the students who have little chance of graduating from college without massive debt? Has it been great for the homeless? Has it been great for those going bankrupt due to their medical expenses? Has it been wonderful for the 90% who have household incomes of no more than 40K while the 1% control over 40% of the wealth in this country?

You're going to have to define "wonderful" for me because I'm just not seeing it, other than for the very top 1-5% or so.

I'm certainly no agent of the status quo. I fully support a single payer health care system, reining in the military industrial complex and the prison industrial complex.

It's OK to work hard and get rich, it's NOT OK to get rich by making other people poor!!!

There is way too much of the latter going on now.

As the the discussion about socialism & capitalism above, all societies on the planet are mixtures of socialism (public schools, libraries, fire depts, sidewalks, etc.) and capitalism - including Cuba, where I have guided student trips. For the foreseeable future, the question is, "What is the proper balance between capitalism and socialism in our society?"
