Time Magazine readers chose Julian Assange as Person of the Year. Hands down. But Time's editors preferred to go with the safer choice: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The loser in this contest is Time Magazine. Hands down.

2. I've been thinking about this...

Originally I was outraged that Time picked Z-berg over Julian.
And I went over to Facebook to bitch about it.
Very few people there knew what I was bitching about.
EVERYBODY knows about Facebook and has been affected by it.
It really has changed the way people communicate, and more importantly, it has broken down our perceptions of time and space. I now have people who I haven't seen in 30 years as a part of my daily life. It really is quite profound.

Most people couldn't give a shit about Wikileaks.

Time; just like the vast majority of the corporate media prefers to maintain the existing corporate supremacist status quo, because it's their bread and butter.

I believe Time simply selected the choice that facilitates transparency against people to corporations and governments, the Big Brother wet dream come true and more people have come to view Big Brother as a reality show where they can win mega bucks if they don't get voted out of the house, instead of Orwell's nightmare. All of this is thanks to corporate media propaganda.

On the other hand a person/institution; that promotes transparency on government and corporations to the people, "We the People's" wet dream; realized is shorted in spite of the vote because he/it threatens the corporate supremacist's dominating hold over the people's government.

Furthermore Assange and Wikileaks represent a direct repudiation against the corporate media's dereliction of duty and long time betrayal against the people's best interests.

First, they got to dive head long into the most popular social network on the planet, for marketing purposes.

Second, they got to ignore the struggle involving Assange. They're gutless shills for the same powers that pursue Assange now.
