2. Made me tear up...

However, I don't think a Federal law would do much good (Other than repealing Fed/State laws that discriminate against LGBTQs). It really comes down to acceptance and if people treat being gay as something "other," then we will have a hard time solving this issue no matter how many laws we throw at it.

3. laws matter

if for no other reason than it gives teachers permission to get involved when bullying takes place. I am no longer some lone nut when I bring this issue up since NC passed its law.

4. I agree laws matter but

It really doesn't matter how many laws we enact until we, in the gay community, aren't seen or treated as something other than the norm. We may be unique individuals, but aren't we all? And I could just see if there was a Federal law and a teacher stood up for gay kids, conservatives in the area would tar them as "other" too and drum them out. Dog forbid we protect gay kids.
