I'm sick and tired of the politicians and political pundits treating this man as if he were a criminal. If WikiLeaks had existed in 2003 when George W. Bush was ginning up the war in Iraq, America might not be in the horrendous situation it is today, with our troops fighting in three countries (counting Pakistan) and the consequent cost in blood and dollars.

Here's what I know about censorship: The free flow of information is ultimately less harmful than the impeded flow of information. A democracy cannot exist without total access to the facts.

What's wrong is that a concerned outsider -- an Australian publisher, not our own vaunted mainstream press -- exposed the secret documents. For that, Assange has been hit with dubious criminal charges because his condom failed during a sexual encounter. Give me a break.

Julian Assange should not face a prison sentence. We should have a ticker-tape parade for this brave man.

Let see: Larry Flynt in 1973 fought the Miller v. California obscenity exception to the 1st amendment. He was arrested in Cincinnati 1976 and sentenced to 7 to 25yrs for the 1st amendment exception. After serving about a week in jail he succeeded in getting his sentenced overturned.

In 1976 after losing a libel suit Kathy Keeton, girlfriend to Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione, filed against him. He was held in contempt of court by Chief Justice Warren Burger for shouting out at the court "Fuck this court!" and calling the Justices assholes because Kathy Keeton had already had her day in court and lost due to statute of limitations, but went court shopping to a different state.

Larry Flynt is the guy who leaked the surveillance tape to the media showing FBI agents threating John DeLorean when arresting him; the FBI telling DeLorean would he rather defend himself or have his daughter's head smashed in. At that trial is when Larry Flynt wore the flag as a diaper in protest and was jailed for 6 months for doing it.

Lets see what else? Oh yeah remember Republican representative Bob Livingston who was going to be House Speaker but resigned instead? Why do you think he resigned? Because Larry Flynt offered $1 million dollars for evidence of Republican sex scandals as a result of how Republicans were going after Bill Clinton for getting a blow job. Larry Flynt's publications of the evidence he received is what resulted in (R) Livingston's resignation.

There's a lot more, this is just from the top of my head. I also know that he gives to a lot of liberal causes.
