Palin: America out of step with Reagan's values
Commentary: So Mooselini thinks that Reagan's values are more important than America's values. It's kind of funny since I used to always hear about how America was out of step with God's values. I guess Reagan is more important to the Right.

SANTA BARBARA, CA. - Sarah Palin says America is dangerously out of step with the values of Ronald Reagan and on the "road to ruin."

Palin issued a sweeping indictment of Washington at a banquet celebrating the centennial of Reagan's birth, warning that a new era of big government was menacing the country.

The former Alaska governor derided the stimulus spending, soaring national debt and the nation's foreclosure rate. She called it "staggering."

Palin says the nation is using the same old tax-and-spend policies and called for a return to the limited government and tax cuts promoted by Reagan.

1. Moose lips is just as brain dead as her hero was when he was president and
had the same exact values as Reagan, I got mine fuck everyone else and those values did not do a thing for country as both Moose lips and Reagan put self ahead of country. Funny how they wrap themselves in the flag, idolize the bill of rights except those parts they disagree with yet when it was time to stand up and ask what they could do for country they declared what do I get first.

3. Cool, toss those liberal tax-and-spend policies for borrow-and-spend AND get a tax cut
There you go again with that fuzzy fiscal conservationism math.

from the "trickle-down" sweat and "supply-side" suffering of the many, who must also ultimately starve and perish.

Fuck the sociopathic Rethugs and their "luck in life's lottery draw" personal responsibility bullshit.

Limited government=Eliminating leftists.

7. Palin was still in high school when Reagan left office. She doesn't remember him very well.
She has no grasp of history.
She has no grasp on the politics of the day back then, or now, for that matter.
She doesn't have a grasp on reality.

10. Soaring national debt IS Reaganomics
Or is she talking about efforts to rein in the deficit? I suppose we could always try raising taxes on people in Mrs. Palin's tax bracket. Another three cents for every dollar Mrs. Palin "earns" above a quarter million a year? I'll bet she wouldn't even miss it, and the country could sure use a little extra scratch to pay for all the wars begun by Reagan and his ideological successors.

12. Raygun promised he'd balance the budget by 1983.
Edited on Sat Feb-05-11 04:16 PM by roamer65
...and never delivered on it. She has a very flawed and incorrect understand of Raygun.

I remember that bastard promising it on TV during his 1980 campaigning.

She needs to be sent to a re-education camp.

13. It is bizarro world. Everything she said about Reagan
in truth, was the opposite.

"He cared about the little people." ???????? He didn't give a shit about the little people! Mr. Trickle down himself. Ketchup a vegetable, going after the workers, letting the S&L's steal pensions etc.

Concerned about debt/deficits? ?????? He ran up the deficit faster than anything. He increased it higher than ever!

The only thing Palin and Reagan have in common is their vocation-- corporate spokesmodels.

14. Well , ex-cuuuuuse us, Missie
Maybe "the country" has no desire to be "in step" with an old codger who was good at pretending to be other people for a living.

His values left a lot to be desired. He was a philandering husband, and adulterer...and not that great of a father as well.

He was little more than a made-up/coiffed pitchman-con man, who stepped in and lied to people in order to begin the undoing of the New Deal.

His easygoing demeanor masked the fact that he was the front-man just memorizing & playing a role..like he had for his whole worklife, while that sneaky little ferret-faced Bush1 ran things.

This maudlin, mawkish corpse-worship stuff creeps me out.. This is not his 100th birthday.. we cease to have "birthdays" when we DIE.

If odd people like to have parties in celebration that you were ever born, well..that's their business, but it should not be a national event..not should things be named for a politician until they have been dead for at least 25 years..and then only after all their official papers have been thoroughly scoured ..

even the WP recognizes... "Those icons' enduring appeal does not come from their records or their policies, which often contradicted their principles. Reagan, for instance, engaged the superpower he had called an evil empire, raised taxes and left behind what was at that time a record deficit..."

those that idolize Reagan for these reasons are idiots

18. You mean like cutting and running when things get tough...
Oh wait, she did give up when the going got tough. She walked away from the governorship...

Ronnie cut and ran after the bombings in Lebanon.

He put those kids in harms way and then quietly slipped out leaving Lebanon to fester and broil for years.

What the hell were they doing there in the first place.
