Presumably some of these kids would have joined the military and I'm sure would have served admirably, additionally those who chose to go to college, I'm sure they would have worked hard and thrived given what was on the line. now they will never have the chance and we will be the worse off for it? Whether these kids stay underground or resort to a life of crime for lack of citizenry, we have no idea, but this is a travesty to kids who have done nothing wrong and have only known THIS Country as THEIR Country, and now we've let them down...

7. This hurts my heart--deeply

My son's father came to the US as a small child and as an illegal immigrant. This was the only country that he knew, and wanted to give back all of the bounty that was afforded to him. He thankfully was given citizenship under the amnesty program of the 1980's. He has lived most of his life as a union member and a strong citizen.

Those pictures just hurt my heart more than most folks can know. These are my people, even if I am a spoiled white girl from the suburbs. This is family. This is heartbreaking.

This is just awful. Unless we are Native American Indians, our ancestors came here as immigrants. These kids were born in America or came with their parents as children - to deny them rights as an American is horrendous.

My wish is that the older generation of hate-filled, so called "Christian" conservatives will fade away (they are getting old after all....) and the generation of NOW will take our country in the direction of progress, change and evolution. Our children are our hope, we must teach them!

Both my children (30 and 29) are democrats, and both of my grandchildren (10 & 6) learn every single day about democracy from ME. We took them to vote with us, I talk to them about the country and I teach them. My grandchildren think that the republicans are "crazy" - and those are their thoughts and opinions from watching them with me on the news!!! 10 and 6 years old and more wise than you can imagine.

My grandson's father's family are conservative, so called "Christian" republicans who attempt to fill his head with lies such as "President Obama kills babies". When he used to come home to tell me this garbage I would immediately take him to the internet and we would search for the truth together. Now - they still try and my grandson says "grandma, I know that this stuff isn't true, I just don't say anything because I don't want to hurt their feelings."

It is up to us to educate the generation who will move our country forward because it sure doesn't look like we are getting the job done.
