5. It's sort of satire. Maybe "extreme hyperbole" is better.

Principal + public school teacher discussing "Next gen" video surveillance of her classroom. No money for heat or desk, money for sophisticated surveillance system. If she has nothing to hide, she must be in favor of it. Otherwise. . . Of course, the funding comes from partly a large non-profit that's in favor of charter schools, partly from other nefarious actors. "We can only trust the filthy rich with our tax dollars because only they understand the real world." Her response is that she'll talk to her union.

The punchline, if there is one, is that the union, in return for a large salary increase, accepted this. And such a betrayal was facilitated by her complacency in not voting in the last union election.
