Brisenia was murdered.

Nine-year-old Brisenia Flores was murdered in her home in Arivaca, Arizona in May 2009. She pleaded, "Please don't shoot me," right before she was shot -- point blank, in the face -- by a member of the Minutemen American Defense Corps (MAD).

Brisenia's story has been largely ignored in the mainstream media, but her life has galvanized people around the country to speak out against hate violence towards Latinos. We at Presente designed a poster to honor Brisenia's memory, and to send a statement that we want justice.

Shawna Forde: No Verdict, Jury Goes Home for Weekend

The jury in the murder trial of Shawna Forde, vigilante, ex-Militiaman leader and accused mastermind in the home invasion that led to the death of nine-year-old Brisenia Flores and her father, Raul, was sent home for the weekend at 5:00PM MST, without having reached a verdict. The jury had deliberated for about five hours before being sent home. Deliberations will resume Monday morning.

During the trial and closing, the prosecution had carefully built a case of evidence and testimony by cohorts people she had contacted, to persuade the jury that Shawna Forde had not only been at the home invasion of the Flores’ mobile home, but she had also planned and led the raid.

She was found to have Mrs. Flores’s jewelry, when she was arrested; and men she contacted--who feared her plan was too dangerous and that it was a set-up to get them arrested--testified against her.

Shawna Forde was portrayed by her defense team as a lying braggart who didn't have the ability to actually carry out such a raid and had not, in fact, been there. Miss Forde, however, did not testify in her own behalf; and the only witness the defense presented may have helped the prosecution more than the defense.

and she formed her own "Minutemen" group. Yep, even the mainstream Minutemen org recognized the crazy in her eyes. These three people are more than crazy, they are violent bigots. Their motivation was apparently robbery, but I'm sure they chose that family because of their Hispanic last name and brown skin.
