The North Carolina NAACP led the fifth annual "Historic Thousands on Jones Street" rally Saturday.

The group is using the event to oppose a school district's new plan, which it said will lead to re-segregation.

The board voted last year to end a busing system aimed at achieving socio-economic diversity.

Instead, kids will be able to attend schools in their own neighborhood.

5. Teabaggers and wingnuts have been forcing their way onto boards in NC

for a long time...they'll do anything to get elected to the school boards. It's been a very focused movement for the past 20 years in NC.
