I filed for Medicare and Social Security this month. I did both on line.

The forms were user friendly and the questions were clear and easy to answer. I received a call back from a human being from Social Security today to go over my application. His name was Kevin and he was not calling from India. Since I was once married for 10+ years, I am entitled to benefit from my ex husband's SS if that benefit happens to be higher than mine. The form asked questions about the date of the divorce which I could not specifically remember. It also asked for his exact birth date which I had also brain dumped. Kevin was following up and asked me the names of my ex's parents. That was easy and that was that. Kevin went on to explain my benefits and what would happened if I continued to work. He was terrific. So, my government worked for me today and, after all these years of paying into the System, I feel that I'm getting my money's worth.

6. I had a very similar experience

when I applied early a couple of years ago. Applied on line, talked to a real person here in Anchorage. I had no problems whatsoever.
