| sigh.. life in texas... conversation I had yesterday |
|
with patient's family member "You know those teacher's unions want their insurance to pay for viagra"
me- "Well, you know men with erectile disfunction have a medical condition that allows Viagra"
"Yeah- but I don't don't want my tax dollars paying for it"
me- "You know all major insurance companies pay for viagra.Even the insurance the senators have-not just teachers. It is a medical need- one men have a hard time asking for"
"Well,if it's medically necessary... but teachers asking for it for their husbands."
me-"well,not all teachers are women...and why shouldn't teachers' husbands be covered by the insurance they pay for.We pay for the senate's insurance out of our pockets"
"It's time for Animal network".
sigh.

| 3. i invite you to read George Lakoff "The Political Mind" |

it will teach you to not engage such silly conversations with such people on their own silly argument terms.
i'd have started with, "Sounds like a grand conspiracy of teachers trying to get their jollies on their off hours! And on our dime! Oh wait, that sounds petty and silly doesn't it. Maybe teachers just want health care for their families just like you do -- being in the hospital and all."
seriously, never accept the premise of their silly conversations. they've been think tank bred to be stilted non-conversation talking points from the get-go. engage them at your own waste of time. better to engage them with something better from yourself.

soon as the family member made the opening statement.
You chose to continue rather than ignore or deflect.

...and tell them how hippocritical they are. I'm a Texan, too. I stopped arguing with republicans years ago. It's like arguing with a four year old, and I'm not willing to waste my time listening to their idiocy.....so, I just laugh.

which is what we get when trying to turn a brain washed lost cause. It's the youngin's. I talk to my grands 16 and 21. They're more open minded. It's about the future.
I've lost a few friends trying to explain why they're full of shit but, they won't turn off FAUX or read a damn book.
