At least some of the larger ones did. And they worked out about as well as you might imagine.

8. actually, the japanese had several working carrier subs

their sub design was far ahead of the US's. They had an artillery sub that could shoot accurately from 10 miles away. They had invasion subs, and stealth subs. The US Navy was so freaked out by some of the designs, that they photographed everything, took special technologies out of them, then sunk than en masse to prevent anyone else (read the USSR) from learning from Japan.
