Most of my co-workers are the most clueless bunch I've ever met!

While all the protests going on in Egypt to oust Mubarak, they said they were tired of hearing about it. The protests in Madison, Indianapolis, et al? They're barely aware. The same with the crisis in Libya. The TV in the breakroom has CNN on all day, but they barely seem to be aware of it. And if I had a nickel for every one of them who has ever heard of the likes of Rachel Maddow or Ed Schultz, well -- my tax rate certainly wouldn't change. Watching them might cut into their beer drinking time, I guess. They think I'm nuts for paying attention. Are your co-workers this oblivious to what is going on in the world?

1. Most people are this oblivious. That's why it's so unrealistic

for DUers to think we represent the larger community. We may have the best interests of the larger community at heart, but we don't think like them.

of living in other states to give up on the Cubs.

3. CNN has studiously avoided too much reporting

I suppose the thing to do is strike up a conversation: Wow, what do you think of the goings-on in Wisconsin? When they profess their ignorance, you can give them a little précis, subtly tilting them toward the notion that workign people are getting dicked over by the wealthy and their Republican minions. It's a compelling (to me) story; I figure anyone with even the least bit of curiosity should be interested with the facts presented to them.

6. It's the same way in my husband's breakroom. They don't seem to care because if the

govt gives them back $600.00 extra during Bush they think they are making out without realizing they are actually paying for it. Your right as long as they can get their beer and watch car races they are just happy. They don't realize how the world will effect them. I am just sad. We haven't learned from history.

8. I know. The ignorance coupled with apathy is

astounding. One woman I know even said she didn't care one iota what was going on in Africa, who was starving, who was getting killed and otherwise. It had nothing to do with her.

9. It could be worse. Try working at an ultra-RW leaning place.

They know what is going on, they just don't quite see it the same way.

But as for much of the population, they don't pay attention. Someone who never paid attention to the news once told me that it is too depressing. That person may have been the wisest of the bunch. I feel as if I am constantly drug down.

should they when they don't think past today? Sad!

14. As a telecommuter, I don't have much opportunity to know.

Occasionally I'll have a somewhat "personal" discussion with a few of my co-workers, but we mostly stick to work stuff. I write software for an international company (HQ'd here in the US), so naturally most of my development team is in India. I've had chats with them on occasion, and they all seems to lean left. They all know I lean very far left, so I'm not sure they'd admit to leaning right even if it were true. But politics just doesn't come up much with my in-house clients back here in the states.

just another blown opportunity shoved away forever into the back drawer.

I don't have faith that Americans will ever catch on and do something about the destruction of their lifestyle.

They will just suffer in silence because they will be too stupid to realize they are suffering.

If it gets to the point that they understand it will be far too late to do anything.

It's what our masters know, and what they expect.
