Assange Marks Cameron's Christmas Card
In his latest interview the Wikileaks founder has told the Guardian that it would be 'politically impossible' for Britain to extradite him to the United States, and that if the USA attempts extradition the final decision will be that of Prime Minister David Cameron.
That's a pretty bold statement and must be based on his reading of the political climate in the UK and public support for his cause.
He says 'It's all a matter of politics. We can presume there will be an attempt to influence UK political opinion, and to influence the perception of our standing as a moral actor,"
Perhaps he's right. Perhaps the Cameron government, acutely aware of anti Americanism and a groundswell of sympathy for Mr Assange, would, domestic push comes to American shove, decide that all politics is local and refuse to send him to face American justice.
