Jindal (LA governor) again tries to slash Medicaid

The Jindal administration has resubmitted a plan to cut $13 million in Medicaid programs.

It’s a plan that a legislative panel rejected on Dec. 10. Jindal responded he has authority to override the legislative decisions as they apply to rules.

The $13 million in cuts are part of a plan to reduce Medicaid program spending by $50 million before the June 30 end of the current fiscal year. Medicaid is the government health program for the poor and is running over budget because more people are seeking care through the program.

Jindal’s cuts hit hospitals hardest, particularly those that provide care for premature babies and critically ill children.

1. The article was a little vague

about what he actually will cut. It doesn't really talk about what way the hospitals will be cut. I know the state is struggling, and there is likely room for better management of the medicaid funds. I wish articles like this were more specific and less "the sky is falling"...

charity hospital has never been rebuilt, medicAID is the federal program (w. state matching funds) used by poor people and poor women w. children

it's part of jindal's war on children who didn't make a wise choice of parents, if you were meant to be blessed by god, you would have been born to a rich mom and dad like his...grok?

5. Yes...I am well aware what Medicaid is..IMO the article is vague about

exactly what aspects he is intending to cut. If he wants to cut millions, then there is something that the state doesn't want to pay for, specifically. I don't see a reference to what that is in the article.

Jindal's name around as a candidate in 2012. They're planning to call him their "environmentalist" candidate because of his idea to build those useless berms off the LA coast. He's going to be the "Republican Obama" because, you know, HE'S DARK!

Haven't been following him, so I don't know if he has built any sort of track record to make the Reps go all weak in the knees...but I do remember they were all a flutter a couple years back.
