(CNN) -- They marched on Washington to reclaim civil rights.

They complained of voter intimidation at the polls.

They called for ethnic studies programs to promote racial pride.

They are, some say, the new face of racial oppression in this nation -- and their faces are white.

"We went from being a privileged group to all of a sudden becoming whites, the new victims,'' says Charles Gallagher, a sociologist at La Salle University in Pennsylvania who researches white racial attitudes and was baffled to find that whites see themselves as a minority.

9. Here's the thing...

White America is making a terrible mistake by creating networks that continually break the law, thinking that a dark surge will soon over take them. It's a mistake because they're setting an example. Latin America, where 10% of the population controls 90% of the resources, people played by different rules in order to survive. Cronyism and nepotism are a way of life. That's essentially, what has happened here with the good ole boy networks. It is getting out of hand. But it was kept in check because of federal laws and law enforcement. However, the worse the good ole boys set the example, the harder it will be to take the high ground once they do become a minority.

11. "They" is painting with a bit of a broad brush

When "minority" can be defined mathematically, ethnically, culturally, by gender, by creed, or by sexual preference, there are bound to be some differences in perception.

From my perspective (EEOC/employment practices), "minority" means: not white/male/straight/younger than 40. If I can keep that much straight, and the employee doesn't qualify as a "whistleblower" or disabled, my personnel decisions stand.

My point was that "minority" has become a political and legal football, so it doesn't surprise me that, in this polarized political system and culture, a group of whites with nothing much to complain about is taking this tack.

I'm fortunate to work in an environment where opportunity is blind to anything but ability, but we find ourselves often making morally wrong decisions because they are legally right.

are groups who really do believe that they're entitled to special treatment because they're white. I would have never believed it until I witnessed it.
