My friend's very smart 14-year old kid had the best explanation for the 5/21/11 billboards...

For those of you living under a rock, there is a big push to get the message out that the world will end on May 21st, 2011. Supposively God has told someone it will happen and, despite what Jesus said, we can know when the world will end.

Those billboards are all over Wilmington. I was in the car with my best friend's daughter and pointed it out, told her I expect I really cool birthday gift from her since that'll be my last. We got to talking about the stupidity of the billboards when she gave me the most perfect, logical, explaination as to why they spent the money and put them up everywhere.

She said that when May 22nd rolls around and we're all still here, they'll be on TV bragging about how successful their prayer campaign was to allow them to save the world.
