Bush Helps Assemble Soldier Care Packages
Advertisements [?]
FORT BELVOIR, Va. -- President Bush chipped in Friday at a warehouse that fills care packages for troops overseas, stuffing plastic bags with candy canes, presidential coins, playing cards and other goodies.

Bush shed his coat and tie to join an assembly line inside a cavernous warehouse on this military base just outside Washington.

"You can't ever thank the troops enough," the commander in chief said. "This is one way of saying `America appreciates your service to freedom and peace and our security.' I hope the troops understand that with this package comes a lot of support and a lot of affection."
...
Other volunteers, some in military fatigues, hooted, hollered and snapped pictures with the president as he worked on the line. "This little operation here is cranking out a lot of care packages," the president said. "With it is a message of good will and hope."
