U.S. Marine Killed in Action West of Baghdad #1283
Advertisements [?]
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A U.S. Marine was killed in action on Saturday in the volatile al-Anbar province west of Baghdad, a military statement said.

The statement gave no further details. Anbar province includes the cities of Falluja -- cleared by U.S. forces in a major offensive last month -- and Ramadi, still a rebel stronghold.

The killing raised to at least 1,008 the number of U.S. military and Pentagon personnel killed in action in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003. Including non-combat deaths, the toll is 1,283.
