I've never spent anywhere NEAR $10K on Xmas gifts, and if I did I wouldn't leave them in my car. Of course, I have had a car stolen and stripped of everything inside, so I am uber-cautious. I don't mean to sound harsh, but could it be that she is making some of this up because it was a rather Scrooge move so close to Xmas? I mean, if there isn't $10K worth of stuff in the van, can't she just claim it HAD been there when the car left her place? Don't you have to be pretty arrears before they repo?? I've never had a vehicle repo'd. I drive old beaters.
On a separate note, what does this teach their kids about money?
