Thousands are reported to have been killed, but there has been little news from the worst-hit areas where all transport and communication links were destroyed.
Hundreds are still thought to be missing from coastal regions and, in Sri Lanka alone, officials say more than a million people have been forced from their homes.
This is a kind of answer to the question I raised elsewhere on this thread about Bangladesh, I'm afraid. It's in the path, and there are thousands living in low-lying, vulnerable areas. If there is no communication from it, and so far I have not seen any, this by itself is a bad sign.
