Iranian President Mohammed Khatami said Thursday it is unlikely the United States will attack Iran given the situation in Iraq.

The Iranian News Agency, IRNA, quoted him as saying Washington is too involved in the Iraqi issues to invade another country.

Khatami, who is on a seven-nation African tour, also warned Iran will stand up to and repel any attack on its territory.
