Rush Limbaugh wasn't the only one stirring racial fires last week. U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo made his move 24 hours earlier, but his proposal got buried in the Limbaugh fallout.
What the Colorado Republican did was propose the abolition of the three race-based caucuses in Congress.
"I find it somewhat hypocritical that this Congress continues to extol the virtues of a color-blind society while officially sanctioning caucuses that are based solely on race," he said in a letter to Rep. Bob Ney, chairman of the House Administration Committee.
Tancredo urged a rule change that would abolish the Black, Hispanic and Asian-Pacific caucuses before the next session begins in January, but the early odds indicate his chances are zero.
