U.S. plans to open representative office in Iran
Advertisements [?]
ANKARA (Zaman) -- The United States administration is likely to open a representative office in Iran in the near future, said Ross Wilson, the U.S. Ambassador to Ankara.

On his visit to the consulate in Adana, Wilson briefed reporters yesterday (Tuesday) on recent developments. A couple of weeks ago, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that some American diplomatic representative offices would undergo a restructuring process.

Wilson added to the statements made by Rice and said that the U.S. administration is considering opening an agency in Iran, where the American government has not had any representatives for over 25 years.

The intention to open such an office, Wilson said, will improve relations, increase our knowledge of Iran and gain a deeper understanding of what is going on in the country.
