<snip>

Fighting to keep his job in an election this weekend, he has compared himself to the legendary British prime minister, saying: "I fight communism the way Churchill fought against Nazism."

Of his 5-year-old government's accomplishments, he claims: "Only Napoleon did more."

Explaining his difficulties with prosecutors and media he contends are cozy with the left, he calls himself "the Jesus Christ of politics," patient and sacrificing.

Suffering too, the 69-year-old Berlusconi might have added.

President Bush's ally in the Iraq war leads a conservative coalition that has been trailing in opinion polls to a center-left bloc which includes communists.

For a man used to calling the shots at a business empire that includes Italy's three main private TV networks plus publishing, insurance, advertising, real estate and sports interests, the threat of losing the Sunday-Monday election has put him in a visibly bad mood.

.... he sounds more insane than the chimp!
