35. Now -- this is off limits.
What does this kid's talk have to do with anything? Leave him be. His true love is ice hockey. He loves snow boarding. He is a normal teenager and precisely the reason that we need good sex education in our schools and churches that helps kids understand what their choices are and think them through.

Obama is correct when he says this is not about the children themselves. It's about issues. And one of those issues is sex education. The other one is how do families balance two careers and children?

The reason that the Palin teen pregnancy story is relevant is that she is typical of a lot of kids who get into the trap of early parenthood followed by drudgery in the workplace just to make ends meet. That's not the American dream. These kids deserve better.

Sarah Palin has not been able to help her own daughter set priorities and plan her life. How in the world is she going to do for American what she could not do with her daughter?

Of course, sexual abstinence during the teenaged years is best. That's not the issue. The issue is how do you help kids understand their choices and set their priorities? As a liberal, I believe that open discussion with children about all the facts makes it more likely that kids will make the right choices.
