ASSOCIATED PRESSTAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) -- The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.9 magnitude earthquake has struck off the southeast coast of Taiwan.
The agency says the quake hit at 10:59 a.m. local time (0259 GMT) Monday, 195 miles (295 kilometers) off the southern Taiwan city of Taitung.
Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau says no tsunami warning has been issued.
Buildings swayed in Taipei, the capital, when the quake hit, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
