We are the ones looking for the basement when the local sirens blow--EVEN when we travel.
I used to market kid's books in a midwest territory that included Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and a small part of Iowa. One woman I talked to laughed about being at a PTA convention in DC and the storm sirens went off while they were there. She said you could easily spot the folks from Tornado Alley because they were the ones looking for a basement. Everyone else was just standing around scratching their head at that unaccustomed siren going off.
