Strong earthquake shakes Costa Rica's capital (6.0)

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) — Authorities say a 6-magnitude earthquake has shaken Costa Rica's capital. There are no immediate reports of casualties.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake's epicenter was 16 miles (25 kilometers) northwest of the capital, San Jose. Its depth was 44 miles (70 kilometers).

On Jan. 8, 2009, a 6.1 quake in central Costa Rica killed at least 20 people.
