Man says he got involved in fight over signs

Posted: 3:20 PM

CLEVELAND - A voter in Cuyahoga County told NewsChannel5 he was bitten in the nose by an Election Day rover.

The alleged physical assault happened at the polling location outside Gloria Day Evangelica Lutheran Church on Memphis Avenue in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, Greg Flanagan, went to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. He called NewsChannel5 as he was leaving the hospital to go home. It was not immediately clear if Flanagan got the opportunity to vote.

Flanagan said the incident started when he saw a man arguing with a woman about signs she had outside the polling location. The man was claiming the woman's signs were too close, and Flanagan said the situation was combative. He said he stepped in to try to help the woman.
