7. That was the mindset in Vietnam
The old days of body counts, that is how progress was judged. The news would start out--rather like it does now--with the number of Cong killed. Of course, now they call them insurgents...but it is the same shit, all over again.

It astounds me that all of the chickenhawks in the administration do not SEE it. It bites me hard in the ass every time I hear how many 'insurgents' were killed, along with our kids, on the news--but hey, this administration doesn't 'do' body counts. Funny though, they sure pass that info on to the media, don't they?

I mean, after all, they were here, safe in America, during Vietnam, sitting in front of their TVs drinking their beer and whiskey, watching Rather and Cronkite, not over there, trying not to get killed by an invisible enemy and waiting for the mail to come in with letters from home.
