Gore: Developed countries should do more to protect environment


BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Former US vice president Al Gore said here Monday developed countries should shoulder more responsibility in protecting the environment of the earth.

In his key-note speech made on Monday in China's prestigious Tsinghua University, Gore presented lots of pictures and diagrams to show the destruction brought by humankind to the world environment.

He called for students to make concerted efforts to protect the environment of the whole world.

When asked to comment on the United States' refusal on signing the Kyodo Protocol, Gore said the developed countries should bear more responsibility in protecting environment.
