So, let me tell you something about the SVP:

Already the name is outrageous!
They pretend to have the right to speak for all the Swiss people.
They by far DO NOT!
Still they are a major party and form much of the middle-to-right wing of Swiss political landscape.
To their left there is a bit of liberal/economics (about middle) and to their right are the extremist right which operate near illegality and will be forbidden in the near future (but every nation has its nutcases).

Their news adds are ALWAYS provocative!
So, since this party forms much of the right bloc all by itself, it has to generalize.
The can't do a differentiated campaign, A) because most of their voters think only in black/white categories, B) because for half of their voters it wouldn't go far enough and already to far for the other half, because the party has no common ground. Their common ground is the picture of a retro-oriented green lush meadow Switzerland with cows and a smiling sun (childish) while their Boss is a multi-million multi-companies rich guy who made his money with chemics industrie!!
(They remind me of the happy tree friends sometimes)

Solution:
--> They do very VAGUE campaigns that rely mostly on EMOTION and only rarely on facts.
--> They always provocate/exagerate and therefor (with unintended media help) DOMINATE the elections, provocation always is their trump card.
--> They play the FEAR! FEAR! instrument as good as the TERRA! TERRA! players in certain countries.

And finally, let me say:
They are an opposition party, currently with a huge problem and an ongoing investigation about there most popular Federal Council "Christoph Blocher" trying to frame/mob a Federal Judge.
