Five Bodies Found in Frederick County Home

Homicide came to this tiny town in northwest Maryland today for the first time in more than two decades, when police were called to a bright yellow house where they found the bodies of a mother, a father and their three small children.

Authorities said Christopher A. Wood, 34, killed the others and then himself. His children -- boys 5 and 4, and their 2-year-old sister -- and wife died of cuts and lacerations, police said.

Police had never before been called to the house, and there was no known history of domestic violence, Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins said at a news conference.

Jenkins said Wood left four separate notes, the contents of which he declined to disclose. Even so, he said, the killings remained essentially mysterious.
