9. Some contradictions between Zell's speech
and reality:

Zell repeatedly blasted UN involvement with US foreign policy, however he cited at least two incidents in which the US worked through the UN to solve crisis: Truman's reprimand of Soviet forces in Iran and the War in Korea. Zell said these were examples of US "liberation."

Zell neglected to mention that Gen MacArthur bungled the UN's plan to maintain peace in Korea by pushing in to North Korea and massing troops near the Chinese Border. When China entered the war, it deteriorated into a quagmire that lasted 3 years.

He cited Republican Presidential Candidate Wilkie (1940) as an example of someone who put aside partisan politics to support FDR's War policies. In reality, Wilkie ran as an isolationist who promised troops "would never be sent to fight in foreign wars" and denounced Roosevelt's Destroyers for Bases Deal (w/Britain) as "dictatorial."

Zell praised Reagan for bombing Libya and using force against Kadaffi (for killing US soldiers). Is this the same Kadaffi Bush has now welcomed back to the World community?

Zell skipped over Vietnam in his little history lesson and didn't mention Reagan's embarrassing escapade into Lebanon (which resulted in more than 200 marine deaths).

Zell ecstatically praised Reagan for winning the Cold War. This begs the question, if we defeated a Major Nuclear Power that hated us without any bloodshed or force, why is war the only option for peripheral poverty-stricken states like Iraq and Afghanistan?

The list goes on and on.
