for performing an illegal marriage?

I take it from the article that the GOP wants to make it a felony of some sort, but what is it now, a misdemenor or what? Fine? Jail time?

I have no problem with punishing people who perform illegal marriages but a felony is a bit overboard, a fine, maybe a few days in county, and loss of job seems appropriate to me.

State penitentiaries are not places to put political prisioners, they should be murderers, rapists, and robbers.
