2. Sam Donalson made a curious remark today during an interview w/Poppy..
After listening to GHWB blather on and on about Reagan, he recalled when Bush himself was seeking the GOP nomination against RR. He said he lost the nomination to RR and was completely surprised when Reagan picked "him" as his VP...

The general conversation between Donalson and Bush I was highlighting Reagan's gentlemanly qualities, separating the man from the politician.

Suddenly, Donalson in a monotoned voice pops up with:
"And if RR hadn't picked GHWB as VP, he never would have been No. 41,
And likewise, GWB wouldn't have been No.43."

Then Donalson smiled like a Cheshire cat..

Those were the last words of the interview.

eerie and strange way to end an interview, I thought..
Almost like Donalson was sending Bush a subliminal message.
