1. He kept up the political, military and economic pressure on the Soviet Union. The speech above is just one example. When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, I thought, and everyone else thought, we'd be stuck with the Soviet Union forever. But now it is gone. Reagan, along with Kennedy, Truman, John Paul II, Vaclav Havel and countless other Americans, Europeans and Russians helped cause it to collapse.

2. He provided logistical and financial support to Solidarity, which opposed the puppet occupation government in Poland.
