"Rebels and Redcoats" -- parallels to the Iraq War

Is anyone watching this special on PBS? It's a documentary on America's Revolutionary War, told from the point of view of the British side. The parallels to the Iraq War are frightening -- and the lessons the British learned, trying to wage a war against insurgents in a distant country, are absolutely relevant to what the U.S. faces now, trying to control Iraq.

The program points out that American revolutionaries had much in common with the North Vietnamese, as well as every insurgent force through history. And that the British were in an unwinnable situation. Yet the Brits kept thinking (arrogantly so) that since they were the world's superpower, they could hold onto a country where the insurgents were just a bunch of disorganized, poorly armed rabble rousers.

Sound familiar?
