Anecdotal comment on "Iraq Handover" from friend.

She is usually a consistent newspaper reader, but with chasing a 2-year old all day, some things get overlooked:

Today we were doing our usual Bush-bashing and the subject of June 30 came up, etc. Not sure how we got to topic but I commented about how it won't matter much, since our soldiers will still be there and will still be targets.

Her reaction: "What? What are you talking about?" Me: "Well, I think a lot of Americans are under the misconception that our soldiers are coming home after the handover."

Her: "Well, count me as one of those, since that's what I thought too. You mean they're NOT coming home after this June 30 thing?"

ME: "Last I heard, we're there thru 2005 or maybe forever, for all I know."

Her: "Then we are so screwed. I can't believe I didn't know that."

And I consider her a generally informed person, so I can only imagine how many others are assuming the same thing.

Just thought I'd share.
